amid chaos

amid chaos,

i beg my flight-framed mind

to stop and listen instead.

i try to hear the lesson

the world is teaching me,

but sometimes, the noise

around me is so loud, i

can only pick up bits

and pieces of the

radio signals

being sent

my way.

the universe says, “do not give up.

you are closer than you think. you are

exhausted, but it is not all for nothing.

it’s time to begin,” but to my brain,

my ears relay the command, “do give up.

you are closer to the brink. you are

exhausted, and it is all for

nothing yet again,”

and i flee.
