but now i don’t.

i used to say it was fine.

no, don’t bother.

i understand,

really.

but now i don’t, unless it really is fine,

or it’s alright if they don’t bother,

or if i do really truly understand.

but if it isn’t fine,

and if what has been done does bother me,

or if i cannot understand why they’d do what they did,

then i say nothing at all.

but i store it in a mental memory book

with their name written on the cover,

and i remind myself that people

are not who you want them

to be.

they are who they are,

and expecting otherwise

is not fine. don’t bother.
