in a sweeter world.
Jun 21, 2021
a poem where fantasy is more saccharine than reality.
in a fantasy,
i pull cotton candy bedsheets
off my lollipop legs and saunter
over to the living room window.
my fingers separate the licorice blinds
and i say hello to the gumdrop in the sky.
the revved-up jelly beans
and their pop rock engines
bounce along sour rainbow straw roads.
i pour a cup of sugar
into a caramelized mug and
spoon it into my mouth.
in a sweeter world,
i would not need help
getting the medicine
to go down.
