Member-only story
my life is not a fairytale, but i let myself pretend it could be.
Apr 23, 2021
a poem in which i refer to my mom as “mam” for the sake of loose rhymes.
i like to place the line
once upon a time in front
of veridical stories because the phrase
allows me to view life events as a phase
and my reality feels more fictional
which makes it all bearable.
a recent discovery
that sounds oh so lovely
is the concept of simply living
within the confines of a fantasy
where happily ever after exists
and bad luck is dismissed,
but alas — here i am
repeatedly saying goddamn
and cursing an invisible man
for taking away my mam.
