the capacity for audacity

i grew up in the city

and the suburbs, which

exposed me to experiences

unlike and dissimilar to mine.

but one truth across the board

is that adults seem to like to hoard

the tenacity for a lack of propensity

pertaining to common decency.

i do not have the capacity

for audacity on part of

adults who pay no

mind to veracity.

just because you are

years older than me

does not render you

void of culpability.

you did me wrong and i stayed strong

but our communication i no longer wish

to prolong — in my life you do not

belong.
